Alexandra Wisser for State Representative

About Alexandra

Why I'm Running

My name is Alexandra Wisser and I am running for State Representative of the 147th District. I plan to give all residents of this District a voice. My opponent almost ran unopposed, and I could not let that happen. I entered this race to give voters a choice. Given my record of community service and my commitment to representing all members of the community, as your representative I will listen and engage with every side in order to give everyone a chance to speak their mind on the issues that we face together.

Because I believe many constituents have been silenced by partisan politics, my campaign will focus on how we can move forward as a united community, with shared concerns and problems. I plan to devote myself to working for the entire district, not just those who will vote for me or contribute to my campaign. All residents of the 147th District deserve equal levels of respect, dignity, and attention.

Everyone in our community deserves a choice when it comes to voting. And everyone deserves a chance to vote for the representative they believe will listen to them and give them a voice in our society. I plan to be that representative.

Who I Am

Alexandra Wisser has lived in Upper Salford Township for over 20 years. She lives with her husband, Rob, their daughter who attends school in the Souderton Area School District, and their rescued pets, Chelsea, Midnight, and Binx. Her stepson is a high school social studies teacher in a nearby school district, so she has roots in the community and a strong interest in giving voters a voice. Raised in Collegeville, Alex earned a  BA in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland.

After earning her JD from Widener University School of Law, Alex worked as the Conservation Coordinator for the Perkiomen Watershed Conservancy. During her time there, she organized the annual stream cleanup, conducted stormwater management education for municipal officials, and coordinated the Pennsylvania DEP award winning Stormfield Riparian Buffer Project. This was a collaborative effort with the Delaware Riverkeeper, Montgomery County Planning Commission, and Lower Salford Township, giving Alex a strong background in community service and experience working with both local government and community representatives.

Alex has previously been a member of Advent Lutheran’s church council, a Sunday School Superintendent, a Sunday School teacher, and a member of the fellowship and green team committees. When her mother was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, Alex put her career on hold to become a caregiver, and has a personal understanding of the difficult issues surrounding both health care and elder care in our society, while also affirming her dedication to community service.

During her mother's illness, Alex volunteered part-time at the Indian Valley YMCA and eventually became a part-time employee at Hugs Daycare, where she worked until she took time off to raise her daughter. When her daughter reached school age, Alex became a cafeteria and playground aide at her school. Alex has been an active volunteer as a parent in the Souderton School District and supports several community organizations in the Souderton area, furthering her commitment to addressing the difficulties that parents and families face in the community.

Alex loves to hike, camp, bird watch, bake, and read.
